THE CROSS WORSHIP SERVICE, MAY 21st at 10am “God’s Judgment on False Teachers” (2 Peter 2:4-10a)

THE CROSS WORSHIP SERVICE, MAY 21st at 10am “God’s Judgment on False Teachers” (2 Peter 2:4-10a)

We come this week to 2 Peter 2:4-10a on the sobering theme of “God’s Judgment on False Teachers.” It’s one thing to tell a lie, it’s quite another thing to teach lies. This is the tragic biography and behavior of false teachers. Peter gives us some very powerful examples of this to warn us and encourage us. May our hearts be strengthened, our minds discerning and our joy full in the Lord as a result of our time in God’s Word!

Please read Psalm 75 to prepare yourself for worship. Communion will also be celebrated tomorrow!

May God be glorified as we make much of Jesus together! So much to thank Him for! Amen?

Grace and peace,
Pastor Steve

Pastor Steve concludes the fourth chapter of Ephesians in expositing Ephesians 4:25-32 on the theme of “Practical Godliness.” This is the Apostle Paul’s admonition to not grieve the Holy Spirit as the people of God but to live in forgiveness with each other through practical evidences of a changed life.

The Sovereignty of God and Prayer by John Piper

The Sovereignty of God and Prayer by John Piper

“the Spirit of God intercedes for us according to the will of God” (Romans 8:27)

I am often asked, “If you believe God works all things according to the counsel of his will (Ephesians 1:11) and that His knowledge of all things past, present, and future is infallible, then what is the point of praying that anything happen?”

Usually this question is asked in relation to human decision: “If God has predestined some to be his sons and chosen them before the foundation of the world (Ephesians 1:4) then what’s the point in praying for anyone’s conversion?”
