Tuesday Women’s Bible studies this week!
-Lisa Miller’s Woman Study is from 9:30am – 11:30am. They are studying “Words and Works of Jesus Christ” by Dwight Pentecost (a survey of the gospels – to get to know the Christ of your salvation).
-Cindy Camp’s Woman Study is from 7:00pm-8:30pm (off for the summer months, will start back up this Autumn). They are studying “Seeking Him” by Nancy Leigh Demoss (experiencing the joy of personal revival).
Don’t miss these two great opportunities to grow together in God’s Word!
Also, every Saturday women’s pray fellowship meets from 8:30am-9:30am to pray for our church, families, neighbors, city, and missionaries. Join us each week for this rich and meaningful time together!
Proverbs 31:30
We’ve named the womens ministry at TCC, Sarah’s Daughters, after the Sarah of the Bible (1 Pet 3:5-6). Even though her name means princess, she was very much like us – an ordinary woman clinging to the promises of God through the trials and triumphs of living.
Her deepest longing was to bear a child of her own, but she could not for she was barren (Gen. 18:9-15). She learned a vital lesson that it is better to wait upon the Lord, trust in His promises than try to circumvent her vacantness by her own frustration (Gen. 16:1-13). Ultimately, the Lord did not forget her and at 90 plus years she gave birth to a son Isaac. The Lord said of this child,“I will establish my covenant with him as an everlasting covenant for his offspring after him” (Gen. 17:19). What an amazing kindness and mercy God gave to her.
Sarah is also the woman that Paul mentions in Galatians 4:21-31. He refers to her as the “free woman” and that we are children of the promise (as was Isaac). Listed in the Hall of Faith, here is how Scripture summarizes her journey: “By faith Sarah herself received power to conceive, even when she was past the age, since she considered Him faithful who had promised” (Heb. 11:11).
Her noble character and godly example was symbolically passed down to her own “daughters.” As Peter says, “And you are her children, if you do good and do not fear anything that is frightening.” What a great legacy to be known for. As Matthew Henry says of Sarah, “the greatest honor of any man or woman lies in a humble and faithful deportment of themselves in the relation or condition in which providence has placed them.”
Therefore, women of God need to stand strong in the fear of the Lord by living in the power of his Word, the love of His leading, the grace of His beauty, the peace of His presence. In submission to the Lord Jesus Christ, we are to be loving servants to all those who the Lord places in our lives as our “neighbor”.
The Cross Church’s Women’s Ministry is available to women of all ages. It is our desire to encourage one another in love and good works for His glory and divine purposes, and to enjoy the sweetness of genuine friendship and support for one another as sisters in Christ.
It is our prayer that women will:
- love by serving Christ
- trust by believing Him
- stand in the power of the Holy Spirit
- rest in the truth of His Word
- serve in community with others
In His matchless grace,
Cindy, Lisa, Joyce, and Sylvia
