THIS WEEK AT THE CROSS, September 25th – 10am. Encouragement for Elect Exiles (pt 6) – “The Stone, The Saved & The Sentenced” pt 2 (1 Peter 2:4-10)

In 1 Peter 2:4-10 we are called a spiritual house, living stones, holy nation, chosen race, royal priesthood… And one of the most endearing in all of Scripture is this: “a people for God’s own possessions” (1 Peter 2:9). But even the best of men, the chosen generation, the people of God, need to be exhorted to keep from the worst sins. This week we will see that call to Christlikeness because of the reconciled relationship between the Savior and His people. But also, there are sobering words to be heeded for those who reject Jesus and His gospel. These I call “the sentenced” (1 Peter 2:8). Jesus is the priceless, chosen, chief cornerstone of the church! May our hearts be stirred afresh in our love, adoration, worship and devotion to the King of kings and Lord of lords!

Please read Psalm 116 to prepare your hearts and minds for worship. We hope you’ll be able join us this Lord’s Day as we make much of Jesus together!

The Reason for Our Redemption (pt 3) “The New Community in Jesus” (Ephesians 2:11-22)

This week Pastor Steve begins Ephesians 2:11-22 on The New Community in Jesus or From Disunity to Community. This message has as a sub-theme overcoming racism. There was no greater racial tension than what the early church experienced between Jew and Gentile. The gospel was powerful in bringing down that dividing wall! May we learn from its truths in our day.

Start this Lord’s Day with Adult Sunday School Fellowship at 9am!

Two great ways to begin the Lord’s Day with us at 9am: Women’s Ministries is studying “A Woman’s Battle Plan to Serious, Specific, and Strategic Prayer” by Priscilla Shirer); and the other class, a mixed Adult Class, is looking at “Christ in the Old Testament.” Looking at OT passages and seeing its fulfillment in the NT.

Hope you can join us!
