THIS WEEK – THE CROSS WORSHIP SERVICE. MAY 29th, 10am – Luke 10:25-37 “Loving Our Neighbor in an Age of Rage (pt 1) – The Parable of the Good Samaritan”

This week we are beginning a new series under the theme “Loving Our Neigibor in an Age of Rage.” This is not only a current cultural “hot button” – but is essential to the Christian Faith. It is the second of the two great commandments. Listen to Jesus’ own words: “And he said to him, “You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind. This is the great and first commandment. And a second is like it: You shall love your neighbor as yourself. On these two commandments depend all the Law and the Prophets.” (Matthew 22:37-40) This is going to stretch us as a church and encourage us out of our comfort zone in how we serve, treat, witness to and love others.

Please read Psalm 15 to prepare your hearts and minds for worship this Lord’s Day. The Lords Supper (communion) will also be celebrated tomorrow. Let’s make much of Jesus together beloved – for He alone is worthy!

Yours for the Master’s use,
Pastor Steve

The Sovereignty of God and Prayer by John Piper

“the Spirit of God intercedes for us according to the will of God” (Romans 8:27)

I am often asked, “If you believe God works all things according to the counsel of his will (Ephesians 1:11) and that His knowledge of all things past, present, and future is infallible, then what is the point of praying that anything happen?”

Usually this question is asked in relation to human decision: “If God has predestined some to be his sons and chosen them before the foundation of the world (Ephesians 1:4) then what’s the point in praying for anyone’s conversion?”

Pastor Steve concludes the fourth chapter of Ephesians in expositing Ephesians 4:25-32 on the theme of “Practical Godliness.” This is the Apostle Paul’s admonition to not grieve the Holy Spirit as the people of God but to live in forgiveness with each other through practical evidences of a changed life.
