Aggressive Sanctification: Being Wholehearted and Single Minded Toward Christ and His Word!

Read through 1 Thessalonians 4, Colossians 3:1-14, and Romans 6-7 to prepare your hearts.

Central to God’s character is the quality of holiness. Yet, even so, most people are hard-pressed to define what God’s holiness precisely is. Many preachers today avoid the topic altogether because people today don’t quite know what to do with words like “awe” or “fear.”  The holiness of God in its proper and central place in the Christian life is changing… forever! We must come to the place that a correct, awe-spiring view of God is that which encourages a Christian to become “holy just as God is holy.” Once you encounter the holiness of God, your life will never be the same!

Read Isaiah 6:1-10; 1 Timothy 6:1-6 and 1 Peter 1:1-17 to prepare your hearts!

Genuine Repentance vs Counterfeit Repentance (pt 6)

As we have been studying about the characteristics of a godly leader, we have focused on seven different areas:

1. Fear God – not man.
2. Love God – hate sin.
3. Crave the Word – not the world.
4. Christ exalting – not self-empowering

a. live with integrity
b. serve with humility
c. give with generosity
d. witness with fidelity

5. Accept and Reflect Your Regeneration
6. The Power of Words – Learning to control our tongues (James 3)
7. The Power and Freedom of Forgiveness
8. Fighting Spiritual Warfare with Spiritual Weapons.
9. Real Repentance vs Counterfeit Repentance

This is one of the most explosive and misunderstood areas of the Christian life. If you want to live in victory each day over sin, then we must be living daily in repentance!

Prepare your hearts by reading Ephesians 5 and 2 Corinthians 7. May we be men that stand; and having done all to stand… stand firm as repenting, broken, contrite men after His own heart!

D – Devoted. Ministry to our families is a daily thing we do with joy in obedience and love to the Lord Jesus Christ (Eph. 4:17-22).

U – Understanding. Live with your wives in an understanding way (1 Pt 3:7) and not provoking our children to wrath (Eph 6:1-3)

D – Doctrinal Doxology. Read God’s Word together as a family and then lead them in worship through prayer to the Lord in response to what you’ve just read (Col 3:16-17).

E – Example. By God’s grace, live out these truths before your family exemplifying in real life the godly principles of His Word (Psalm 119:10-17, Psalm 19:7-9).

S – Servants. This is the belt that wraps all the others together. Be a servant to those you love considering their needs more important than your own (1 Cor. 4:1, Phil 4:1-5).

This is how to begin to be a man (a “dude”) after God’s own heart at home!

“Be watchful, stand firm in the faith, act like men,
be strong. Let all that you do be done in love.”

1 Corinthians 16:13-14

We need men of God today to stand strong in the Lord and lead with humility, grace, charity and boldness. IOW, to be servants of Christ to their families, church, co-workers, neighbors, and community. Band of Brothers is an exciting new ministry for the men of The Cross Church to be real in relationship and friendship; to encourage one another in love and good works for His glory and for His divine purposes.

We want to encourage men to:

  • lead by serving,
  • love by giving,
  • and live by surrendering.
  • To be like Jesus, in community, everyday. As the men go, so goes the church!

If this resonates with your heart and you’re not plugged in yet, we’d love to have you involved.
