Edwards delivered this sermon on July 8, 1741 in Enfield, Connecticut. It was the sermon for which New England never forgive him, but which the Holy Spirit ignited The Great Awakening. This isn’t like the cheap superficial revivals of our day. This is God moving among His creatures. His text was Deut 32:35, “…their foot shall slip in due time…”

What’s a godly man look like? He is in part one who lives with integrity, serves with humility, gives with generosity, and witnesses with fidelity. We need men, dudes – courageous men, who will honor the Lord to that end. Amen?

How many times have we heard people say, “sound doctrine divides… why be so dogmatic about Christianity’s essentials?” Contrary to that notion, it is unsound doctrine that divides. This is an important article on the necessity of having a faith rooted in the Word of God rightly divided! (1 Timothy 6:3-6)

shepherd the flock of God that is among you, exercising oversight, not under compulsion, but willingly, as God would have you; not for shameful gain, but eagerly; not domineering over those in your charge, but being examples to the flock. And when the chief Shepherd appears, you will receive the unfading crown of glory. (1 Peter 5:2-4 )
