Today is the holiest of days on the Jewish calendar… the day of atonement or Yom Kippur. For the Jew, it is nothing but a dim shadow… a remembrance. For the Christian, it is the day of our redemption. Jesus is our Yom Kippur! (Hebrews 2:9-18)

Look that ye love the Lord Jesus Christ with a superlative love, with an overtopping love. There are none have suffered so much for you as Christ; there are none that can suffer so much for you as Christ.

What is the fruit that evidences a truly regenerated person in Jesus Christ? The Apostle Paul writes, “Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old has passed away; behold, the new has come.” (2 Cor 5:17) If we are new creations then there should be a new life lived as well.

The ultimate goal of the church biblically is not chiefly the public good, but the glory of God in the proclamation and advancement of His gospel. God, not the audience, is sovereign. The gospel, however, is a stumbling block, offensive and foolishness for those who are perishing.
