Philippians 2:5-11

Have this mind among yourselves, which is yours in Christ Jesus, who, though he was in the form of God, did not count equality with God a thing to be grasped, but emptied himself, by taking the form of a servant, being born in the likeness of men. And being found in human form, he humbled himself by becoming obedient to the point of death, even death on a cross. Therefore God has highly exalted him and bestowed on him the name that is above every name, so that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth, and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.

Sermon Notes:

Thinking Biblically to Live Holy

The title Son of Man was our Lord’s most favorite and endearing name. It is used more than 80 times in the gospels. It carries a threefold meaning: Messiah, God incarnate, and the Last Adam.

Humility: having a low opinion of ourselves in relation to having a high view of God.

2 Cor. 10:1, 8:9

“emptied Himself…” not of His divine essence as God the Son, but of His divine privileges and glory as God to come to earth as a slave for our redemption..

John 1:14-18

Hebrews 2:17, 5:8, 9:14

Revelation 19:11-16
